Wellness Center - The Wellness
Center is a unique model for primary care in that it places
a primary care nurse practitioner in direct access to the children,
eliminating the barriers of transportation, travel and removal from
school. Though the use of the nurse practitioner and the nursing
model, the center provides holistic care for children by not only
addressing their medical needs, but by also addressing behavioral
health needs, providing health and Wellness education, and ensuring
disease prevention. The center is able to provide primary care services
to our students including writing prescriptions, performing sports
physicals on site, and diagnosing and treating common primary care
conditions in collaboration with the physician.
